General Public

Since its inception in 1989, the Galiano Conservancy has offered a wide range of public education programs and workshops in conjunction with a variety of other community organizations.

The scope of environmental themes is broad, including such topics as endangered and invasive species, sharp tailed snakes, native plant restoration, ethno-botany, forest practices and protecting marine ecosystems. Our Annual General Meetings, open to the public, always include a leading edge guest speaker.

Among the public workshops we have sponsored and organized are:

  • 1996 - A conference proposing a Marine Protected Area
  • 1999 - Managing Forests for a Healthy Community with Herb Hammond and invited specialists
  • 2004 - Up Close Workshop Series: What Do You Value? (PDF Format 0.58 Mb)
  • 2005 - Eco-Cultural Restoration Workshop February 14-17
