Ecological Restoration Terrestrial Restoration Landing Restoration

Forested land cleared for roads and landings (log storage space, machine turnarounds, old road beds) result in highly disturbed, 'waste areas'. Our landing restorations deal with compacted soils devoid of organic material, a lack of coarse woody debris (CWD), and a proliferation of exotic vegetation (including: Scotch Broom Cytisis scoparius).

District lot 63 on Galiano has 8 main landing sites each undergoing an appropriate restoration strategy either passive or active. Active restoration treatments have ranged from exotic species removal by hand to intensive machine operations with soil decompaction, coarse woody debris loading, snag and stump planting, revegetation with native species and mulching of the site with slash and wood chips.
